La Musique

A little bit of rebel, a big splash of charisma and a whole lot of shimmer – meet Corine, one of the hottest artists to emerge from France right now. Blending style, substance and that very French brand of disco-electronica the world has fallen for again and again, Corine has been clocking up fans. Channelling the glamour queens of the ‘70s and ‘80s, this artist seems to emerge right out of the legendary Parisian nightclubs of the era as she brings her own brand of “erotic disco”. Corinne deals in full-glamour excess and will have the SFSC dance floor up and dancing, there will be no choice in the matter.

Lou Doillon

Lou Doillon might be known to many as the stylish singer, actress and model daughter of Jane Birkin and writer and director Jacques Doillon, but to us, she is family and a true artist. Lou’s last performance at SFSC came just as she released her album Places which she performed with poetic perfection at SFSC that year. Having released her third album, Soliloquy in early 2019 to critical acclaim, she brings with her a multitude of new material, and we expect, even more heartfelt and poetic beauty. A performance not to be missed.

Nouvelle Vague

The delightful and danceable Nouvelle Vague is as known for its chilled-out covers of new wave classics like ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ (Joy Division), ‘Guns of Brixton’ (The Clash) and ‘The Killing Moon’ (Echo & The Bunnymen) as the band is for its guest singers and rotating frontwomen, which have included Camille, Mélanie Pain and Vanessa Paradis. French contemporary music royalty and one of Australia’s most-loved French acts, Nouvelle Vague have wowed us twice before at SFSC. This time, this vibrant band is celebrating its 15th anniversary and has promised Australian audiences something special…

Having been described as the Ben Harper of France, this Senegal-born Frenchman blends folk, blues, soul, pop, and Chanson Française and will be one of the most soulful acts SFSC has had the pleasure of hosting. Having started his career in the clubs and bars of Paris and busking on the corners outside the Metro, Tété is a delight to witness perform live, moving audiences with his soulful tone, goose bump-inducing falsetto and humble but affecting stage presence. We are confident the SFSC audience will fall in love with this self-described troubadour, as the French have already.

Philippe Cohen Solal (Gotan Project) DJ set

If you’ve wandered into any hip, Parisian-style café in the last fifteen years anywhere in the world, we guarantee you’ve heard the tango-meets-electronica tunes of French act Gotan Project. The Paris base trio  are true pioneers in music and are credited with forging a new genre that defined an era for many music lovers. Cofounder and discophile Philippe Cohen Solal will be closing SFSC this summer with a very special DJ set of tropical bass, tango beats, afro-house, Moombahton,  mash-up and sans oublier French touch revival, promising to round-out the day with a rich hit of Parisian culture, element of surprise, a retro-futuristic mood and world music flair.
