Yé-Yé 2.0

Yé-Yé 2.0 is a collaboration between So Frenchy So Chic and female Australian artists including Montaigne, Nadeah, Ali Barter, Ainslie Wills, Tina Arena, Odette, Gretta Ray, Woode, and Ngaiire.

In a series of EPs produced by multi-ARIA nominated producer Alice Ivy and mixed by legendary sound engineer John Castle, these renowned artists put their own spin on Yé-Yé, a pop genre that exploded in popularity during the Swinging ‘60s that put a sultry, nonchalant French twist on the rock ‘n’ roll sounds emerging from the UK and USA.

We now invite you to listen to EP001 of Yé-Yé 2.0.
Yé-Yé 2.0
At the end of 2021, festival founder Jean-Francois Ponthieux launched a new musical project. Yé-Yé 2.0 sees Australia’s finest female-identifying artists interpreting the songs of the Yé-Yé — a musical movement that emerged in France in the 1960s, drawing from British and American rock, French chanson, and a host of other influences to create a fresh and distinctively French sound. Yé-Yé 2.0 is being released as a series of EPs and at SFSC, two of the project’s stars, Ali Barter and Nadeah, will perform these enchanting songs live.
